There are toilet facilities, including one for the use of the disabled, at Mallards Pike.
All ForestMobility buggies have a speed governor limiting the speed to 4mph, a comfortable walking pace.
The buggies are capable of going distances of 15 miles or more. The distance is dependant on battery usage. Battery usage is increased, and distance shortened, by hill climbing and carrying heavy weights.
ForestMobility buggies are extremely stable and unlikely to tip under normal usage. Situations which could cause a buggy to tip are climbing or traversing a very steep slope, neither of which are found on routes advised by ForestMobility. Advice on tackling slopes is part of the instruction given to all buggy riders prior to departure.
ForestMobility buggies have an inertia breaking mechanism, enacted by releasing the speed control paddle leaver. There is no separate brake leaver.
During school holidays and weekends from Easter onwards there is normally a small refreshment wagon at Mallards Pike and Cannop Ponds. They serve hot & cold drinks and a variety of fresh hot food in a bun. Further afield there is a small restaurant at Beechenhurst.
A blue badge is not required to borrow to buggy. Many people who may not be eligible for a blue badge, e.g. those with a short term problem after surgery or just not fit enough to walk a mile or so have enjoyed the services of ForestMobility. Some able bodied individuals have borrowed a buggy from ForestMobility to accompany their spouse, partners or friends.
